About Gati

Gati means motion.

We started with one scooter and a patch of ground in Satdobato. The idea hasn't changed: short lessons, no shouting, and real roads before you're on your own.

How we teach

Ground, lanes, then traffic.

The first days are on our practice ground with nobody around. Then quiet back lanes early in the morning. Only when you're steady do we join the ring road.

The licence

Five steps to your card.

A general guide to the process. Rules and fees change, so always check the Department of Transport Management notice before you apply.

Practise the likhit

Online application

Fill in the form on the transport department website and pick an office and date. We help with this if you choose the licence add-on.

Documents and biometrics

Citizenship, photos and a medical check. Your photo, fingerprints and signature are taken at the office.

Written exam (likhit)

Multiple-choice questions on signs and rules, on a computer. Our practice test covers the basics.

Trial

The practical test on the track: the 8-figure for two-wheelers, ramp and parking for cars.

Licence printed

Pass the trial and your smart licence is printed and collected later.

The trial track

Three things to master.

The 8-figure

Ride the figure-eight without putting a foot down or touching the lines. Slow throttle, look where you want to go.

Ramp and hill start

Stop halfway up the slope, then move off without rolling back. Clutch and handbrake, nice and smooth.

Cones and parking

Weave through the cones, then reverse into the box between the poles. Use your mirrors, not just your neck.

Questions

Asked every week.

How old do I need to be?

16 for a scooter or motorcycle licence and 18 for a car, under the usual rules. You can start lessons a little before, so you're ready on the day.

I've never ridden even a bicycle. Is that okay?

Yes. Tell us in the note when you enrol and we'll start with balance on a stationary scooter. Some people need a couple of extra sessions, and that's normal.

Can I change my lesson time?

Call us a day before and we'll move it if your instructor has a free hour. Lessons missed without notice are not added back.

What if I fail the trial?

Many people do the first time. Book three trial-practice sessions and try again on your next date.

Do you pick me up?

Yes, with the pickup add-on, anywhere within about 4 km of Satdobato.

Ask us anything

We reply by phone, usually the same day.
